VWORLD was formed in April 2004. It succeeds to CPU Software research and development studio, created in 1997. VWORLD is in charge of developing, marketing, and exploiting the proprietary rights of VWorldTerrain© technology (formerly V-world, rebranded in June 2004).

Vincent Pourieux
CEO and Technical Director
Vincent began his carrier in the video game sector at the age of 15 by publishing his first game in a magazine and has a long track record in the industry. He was first hired at Infogrames as a programmer in 1988 and soon moved on to Technical Manager of the Consoles department, recruiting, training and managing several teams which shipped a dozen titles, among which blockbusters such as the Asterix and Obelix, Smurfs, or Tintin series… His "Pix" scenario creation tool served the creation of multiple platform products on consoles. Vincent also conceived the first full 3D game of the company, called Light Corridor and developed various 3D algorithms, C/C++ and Assembly libraries as R&D Manager.  He last occupied the position of Lead Technical Manager of the On-line Games Department prior to separating from the group to join another company in the multimedia sector in 1996, where he notably directed the creation of several products published on the Infonie/Infogrames games portal.
In parallel, he began researching on programming alternatives to produce 3D real-time outdoor scenes, which would not be limited in size and not be dependent of costly graphic production, since games at the time were generally offering a limited playing surface and most provided only indoor scenes. He therefore laid the foundations of the at the time called V-world 3D real-time procedural rendering technology, and formed CPU Software R&D studio in 1997. In 1999, he also co-founded the EMG game development studio and carried out the technical supervision of various titles on consoles and PC like Nike the Mission or Asterix and Obelix, the Movie and the development of products based on VWorldTerrain technology, such as Speed Demons and the Eingana edutainment software, which was presenting the first simulation of the entire Earth in 3D on 2 CD-ROMs. In 2002, Vincent co-founded NPCube and adapted VWorldTerrain technology to the needs of the Dark and Light MMORPG, allowing Dark and Light to feature as the "largest MMORPG you've ever seen".
Vincent co-founded VWORLD in April 2004 to succeed to CPU Software. He serves as the company's CEO and is in charge of the business and technical direction of the company. He sees to constantly bringing additional functionalities to VWorldTerrain technology, which places it at the forefront of 3D real-time realistic visualization techniques, and empowers the vieWTerra platform with unique assets, making it the only Earth viewer on the market allowing both seamless travel and interactive building capabilities over the entire surface of the Globe in real-time 3D, with a complete freedom of movement in every direction from the bottom of the ocean to outer space.

Jean-Francois Lévigne
Databases and Cartography Manager
Jean-François worked for one of the C.I.F.P. sections of the French Ministry of Equipment from 1994 to 1996, as a multimedia engineer and participated to the development of training products of various kinds (video and multimedia).
Between 1998 and 2002, he served as a multimedia supervisor at M-Sat, a company which had specialized in satellite images processing and wanted to branch out into the CD-ROM, video and Internet products publishing business. He therefore contributed to the Earth from Space collection: Germany, France-United, Kingdom-Europe, United-States, jointly with Havas-Interactive. He also helped to direct computer graphics-based video clips and to set up an on-line satellite images visualization system, in collaboration with Enovant, Univers Informatique and Grolier Interactive. He later worked on the database management part of the Eingana software, in collaboration with CPU Software and EMG. In 2002, he joined NPCube, so that the Dark and Light project would benefit from his knowledge in the field of satellite imagery and digital terrain models in order to shape the virtual terrain of the game.
Jean-François co-founded VWORLD with Vincent Pourieux in April 2004. He brings his expertise in the field of databases management and satellite imagery treatment, which contributes to offering an ever greater accuracy to the landscapes produced by VWorldTerrain technology and allows to broaden the scope of its potential applications.
